Road Traffic Collision – Ripponden Road, Denshaw |
||
|
Dear Residents.
At approximately 2:40pm today, I responded to a serious one-vehicle road traffic collision on Ripponden Road, Denshaw, just after the bend heading towards the M62 motorway, close to the mast.
I have been working alongside officers from the Oldham Tutor Unit and Oldham Response Policing Team, together with colleagues from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS), North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) and the North West Air Ambulance, to manage the incident and ensure those involved received the necessary emergency care.
As a result of the collision, Ripponden Road has been closed in both directions and is likely to remain closed for the next hour whilst emergency services and investigators continue their work at the scene, and recover the vehicle. We would ask motorists to avoid the area and make use of alternative routes where possible.
One person who was travelling in the vehicle was treated at the scene before being conveyed to hospital by road ambulance. Their relatives have been informed. I am pleased to report that the driver is currently in a stable condition.
We are appealing for anyone who may have been travelling along Ripponden Road around the time of the incident and who may have captured relevant footage on a dashcam to contact Greater Manchester Police on 101, quoting log number 1858-270726.
I would like to thank local residents and motorists for their patience, understanding and support whilst the emergency services deal with this incident.
Finally, please continue to take care when driving on our roads, adjust your driving to the conditions, and always remain alert to help keep yourself and others safe.
Regards PS 1650 Andy Holian – Saddleworth & Lees Neighbourhood Sergeant.
